More than 700 people will benefit from the Community Development Fund this summer – Birkenhead News

One Vision Housing is supporting over 700 residents this summer with an investment of over £5.8,000 from its Community Development Fund.

As part of the Sovini Group, the award-winning social housing provider is driven by its goal of ‘creating opportunity and changing lives’ and recognizes its role as a key contributor to the social and economic development of the North West.

With the help of the client panel, One Vision Housing will support five organizations over the next few months:

  • Equilibrium North West offers a summer vacation program that will see children with disabilities and/or additional needs and their families with approximately 100 hours of free support, as well as 750 meals.
  • JourneyMEN will now be able to better support the mental and physical health of men in Wirral by offering early intervention services and physical activities such as football, walking groups and gardening.
  • Sovini is partnering with the Netherton Park Neighborhood Center in a Food Pantry project that aims to alleviate food poverty and address the cost of living crisis in an area where 40% of children receive free school meals.
  • A group of vulnerable adults who worked on a submission for the RHS Flower Show at Tatton Park with Taking Root will attend the event this summer with their biggest garden show yet.
  • The Orrell Trust is launching a youth choir later this year aimed at young people in Bootle. The choir aims to broaden the musical education and horizons of its members with weekly rehearsals and two annual performances.

Ian Mitchell, Managing Director of Housing at The Sovini Group commented, “One Vision Housing is at the heart of creating thriving and inclusive communities in the Liverpool region and beyond, but our role doesn’t stop there. We look forward to seeing how these activities create opportunity and help change the lives of people in our communities. »

Orrell Trust project manager Matt Jeziorski added, “We are aware of a real lack of such opportunities for children and young people in our territory; there are no other community choirs for under-16s in our part of the borough.

A total of £10,000 is available each year for voluntary and community groups through the One Vision Housing Community Development Fund. Applications can be submitted at any time of the year.
